in-dental office treatment + daily oral hygiene with specific orthodontic products = successful treatment

Currently there is a high percentage of the population with dental malocclusion and malposition needing treatment with removable or fixed orthodontic appliances. The effect of these treatments allows us to restore the functioning of the mouth, while improving dental and facial aesthetics and, therefore, to increase patients’ quality of life.

  • Perform complete oral hygiene with specific products. without neglecting proper interproximal cleaning for orthodontic patients

  • Use toothbrushes whose filaments are arranged in a V shape and therefore adapt to the shape of the orthodontic appliances, together with a toothpaste and a mouthwash with a specific formulation for orthodontics.

  • Apply soft wax on fixed appliances to prevent the appearance of aphthae.

  • In the case of removable appliances, use effervescent cleansing tablets to eliminate food debris and oral biofilm stuck to the appliances.

  • Do not eat hard foods, such as walnuts, almonds, toasted bread or seeds.

  • Do not eat sticky and/or sugary foods such as chewing gum, nougat or candy.

  • Be careful with fruit pits and vegetables.

Several studies clearly show that patient cooperation is an important factor for treatment success. In order to maintain this cooperation throughout the process, it is important for the orthodontic clinic to promote positive patient attitude.

It is essential to convince patients of the need for orthodontics, to accompany them during treatment and to hold them responsible for their oral care on the long term.

To ensure patient cooperation, it is important to know how to convey the beneficial effects of the treatment, both in relation to health and to aesthetics, as well as to convince them that the treatment will improve their quality of life.

An emotional bond that is based on mutually assuming the positive effects that will result from satisfactory treatment.
